GIU Celebrates the Class of 2026 at Its Graduation Ceremony

Date: Thursday, October 1, 2026

The German International University (GIU) celebrated the graduation of its Class of 2026 during a two-day graduation ceremony held on September 29 and 30, 2026, at the GIU campus in the New Administrative Capital.

The ceremony marked a significant milestone for the graduating students, bringing together graduates, families, faculty members, university leadership, and distinguished Egyptian and German guests to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2026 and look ahead to the opportunities that lie beyond graduation.

The ceremony featured inspiring addresses from prominent figures from Egypt and Germany, highlighting the graduates’ achievements and the important role they will play in shaping the future.

Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mansour, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of GIU and GUC, congratulated the graduates and emphasized that their graduation represents much more than the completion of an academic journey. He highlighted the significance of the distinguished Egyptian, German, and international figures and institutions gathered to celebrate the graduates, reminding them that they represent more than they may realize—for their homelands, their communities, and the world.

Prof. Dr. Slim Abdennadher, President of GIU, encouraged the graduates to embrace resilience, change, and new opportunities as they begin the next chapter of their lives. He reminded them that moving forward does not always mean continuing along the same path, encouraging the graduates to have the courage to change direction, explore new possibilities, and create their own opportunities.

Mr. Julius Georg Luy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at GIU, expressed his appreciation to the university’s staff and deans for their dedication and continued support in guiding students throughout their academic journey. He extended his congratulations to the graduating MSc and PhD students and reminded them that, regardless of where their future paths take them, they will always remain part of the GIU family.

The ceremony also welcomed Lord Mayor of Ulm Martin Ansbacher, who congratulated the Class of 2026 and highlighted the strong and growing partnership between GIU and the City of Ulm. He noted the continued development of the GIU Ulm campus as a reflection of the close collaboration between GIU and Ulm and the university’s expanding connections with Germany.

Prof. Dr. Volker Reuter, President of Ulm University of Applied Sciences (THU), Germany, also joined the celebrations and addressed the graduates, reaffirming the strong academic ties between GIU and its German partner institutions.

Mr. Daniel Sander, Executive Director, Economic Council of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, highlighted the importance of the connections created through GIU’s partnerships between young people, universities, and institutions in Egypt and Germany. He emphasized the role of education in creating opportunities for collaboration, exchange, innovation, and shared development between the two countries.

The ceremony also welcomed Dr. Stefanie Stegemann, Head of the Division for the European Higher Education Area and Internationalization at the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), Germany, whose participation reflected the strong academic and educational ties between Germany and Egypt.

Dr. Kai Sicks, Secretary General of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), also joined GIU in celebrating the Class of 2026, highlighting the importance of international exchange and cooperation in advancing higher education and creating opportunities for future generations.

Representing the New Administrative Capital, Eng. Khaled Abbas, Chairman of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD), congratulated the graduates and reflected on GIU’s journey from the selection of its land to the establishment of the university as an institution dedicated to excellence and international cooperation. He encouraged the graduates to view graduation not as the end of their journey, but as the beginning of a new chapter in which they apply their knowledge, build new relationships, and contribute to the future of Egypt and the world.

Throughout the two-day celebration, the Class of 2026 was recognized for the dedication, perseverance, and achievements that brought them to this important milestone. The ceremony also reflected GIU’s commitment to its founding vision of building strong academic and institutional bridges between Egypt and Germany.

As the graduates begin the next chapter of their journeys, GIU celebrates their accomplishments and looks forward to the contributions they will make across their communities, professions, and the wider world.

Congratulations to the GIU Class of 2026. May this milestone mark the beginning of a future filled with ambition, opportunity, innovation, and success.
