German International University (GIU) in New Administrative Capital Awards Full Scholarships to Outstanding Students from Egyptian Governorates

H.E. Mr.Julius Georg Luy, Chairman of the German International University Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mansour, Co-Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Dr. Slim Abdennadher, President of the university, honored the top high school students from Egypt’s 27 governorates who meet the criteria for the full scholarships offered by the university. The Ceremony was held at the sister university “German University in Cairo”.

Connects 2024 Closing Ceremony

The German University in Cairo organized a series of workshops on design, AI and music in the German capital, Berlin. The workshops were attended by Dr. Ashraf Mansour, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the German University in Cairo; Advisor Ahmed Al-Ansari, representing Ambassador Khaled Galal, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Germany; Peter Greisler, General Director of the Federal Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Anke Riefenstahl, Commissioner for International Science Policy and Foreign Education and Research Policy at the Federal Foreign Office; Amina Demirovic-Kuhne, Mayor of the Reinickendorf District Office in Berlin; Dr. Michael Harms, Deputy Secretary General of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD); along with a number of prominent journalists, media professionals, and public figures from both Egypt and Germany. The aim was to achieve knowledge and cultural exchange between the Egyptian and German peoples.

KNOW - GIU Orientation Days for First Year Students

The “KNOW - GIU Orientation Program” took place for the first time on Tuesday and Wednesday 4th and 5th of October at the GIU. The orientation days targeted the GIU newcomers of all majors. The event aimed to complement the regular newcomers’ orientations with two-days orientation- phase the following week. The idea was to get the newcomers started in a series of light activities and events to break the ice before the official semester start. The orientation consisted of informative sessions introducing the students to the university regulations and providing them with useful tips to help them excel at their studies.

Faculty of Engineering Poster Day Event

GIU held its 1st Engineering Poster Day on June 20th, 2022 for its sixth semester Engineering students. During this event, the students showcased their prototypes and posters to present their accomplishments and to demonstrate their results and findings. The team-based projects provide opportunities for the students to gain experience by applying their knowledge, demonstrating their skills, and paving their career paths. In addition, they inspire other junior students with ideas that they can adopt to decide on their own Bachelor theses and internships. Thirty teams participated in the event, each individually addressing a particular area of technical interest, under the supervision of the Engineering Faculty members and some delegates from the industry.
