Dr. Kai Sicks’s Visit to the GIU

Date: Saturday, October 23, 2021

Dr. Kai Sicks, DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) General Secretary visited GIU campus on the 23rd of October 2021. GIU is always keen on maintaining close cooperation and strong relations with the German partners and the German operating institutions in Egypt following our vision to offer World class German Education.

DAAD represents today 231 German universities and higher education institutions, with over 500 representative offices in nearly 100 countries and is the biggest academic funding institution worldwide. It was in 1960 when the DAAD Regional Office was established on the basis of the German-Egyptian Cultural Agreement (second worldwide).

Since then, the academic relations between Egypt and Germany have evolved steadily. The close cooperation between the DAAD on one hand and GUC and GIU on the other hand has unwrapped new horizons for the scientific bonds of both countries to further develop and flourish. Many Egyptian scholars have benefited ever since from these ties.

Dr. Kai Sicks was very impressed by his tour at the GIU where he visited various research groups in their labs. He gladly expressed his joy that the research conducted was both interdisciplinary and most update with industries’ latest trends in Germany and world-wide. He wished all teams the best of luck and discussed with university leadership further means of support and collaboration.
